Faculty Development Workshop: Learning by Design

Workshop Objective and Expected Outcomes

The main objective of the workshop is to expose faculty members to the new principles and best practices of teaching and learning, including the concepts of “backward design’ and ‘learning by design.' At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:
  • Utilize the concepts of “backward design’ and ‘learning by design' in creating a more effective teaching philosophy focused on a clear overall desired learning outcome.
  • Use a variety of appropriate teaching strategies and tools to engage students in active and collaborative learning.
  • Create a positive learning environment.
  • Deliver engaging course content that promotes learning and critical thinking.
